Save the date for Agriculture and Rural Development Day 2010Finding sustainable agriculture solutions to meet food security and climate challenges.

WHEN: 4 December 2010

WHERE: Gran Melia Resort in Cancun, Mexico

WHAT: A one-day event parallel to COP16 that shows that agriculture is where climate change, food security, and development intersect. It brings agriculture sector adaptation and mitigation strategies to the forefront of global climate treaty negotiations.

WHY: Last year’s Agriculture and Rural Development Day was a major success in increasing the focus on agriculture, food security and climate change and links to forestry. This year’s aim is to build on that success and to identify policies and practical solutions to not only reduce agriculture-related greenhouse gas emissions, but to also strengthen global food security and rural development.

WHO: About 500 policymakers and negotiators, journalists, rural development practitioners, farmers, civil society and the agriculture and climate change scientific community.

HOW: The event features a marketplace of ideas, keynote speeches and exhibits.
