Adams on Agriculture featured a podcast segment on agriculture sales to China (phase 1 trade deal with Senior Research Fellow Joseph Glauber.  Glauber said that “these are great purchases and it’s great to see us back on track. it would be great to get back to 2017 levels; we’re a long way from there, but certainly, with the outstanding sales on beans and corn and other things, these will be great for those products. I always thought that $36.6 billion was unrealistic given where we were. Maybe in a number of years, we’ll build to that level.” Glauber added, “To date, it looks like China has received about $13 billion worth of agricultural purchases–ethynol and a few other categories. The pickup will be in soybeans and consistent with our shipping patterns. There are so many uncertainties right now.”
