EAC Invest A/S: The more crops farmers grow, the more food, nutrition and income secure they are – study says (Market Screener)

February 07, 2020

Market Screener (USA) reported on a new study carried out by IFPRI and partners that examined how crop diversity relates to household food security and income derived from the sale of multiple crops. Findings showed that smallholder farmers in northern Ghana who grow three to eight different crops on their farms, allow farmers to earn more from their marketed crops, as well as enjoy more consistent and diversified meals. A diversification strategy is more likely to positively affect beneficiaries ́wellbeing in Northern Ghana.
