Govt’s aman purchase hits a record (The Daily Star)

March 11, 2020

The Daily Star (Bangladesh) reported on the Bangladesh government’s highest purchase (since 1996) of aman paddy (since 1996). Country Director and Senior Research Fellow Akhter Ahmed said, “It is commendable. This shows that the government can buy paddy if it has willingness. It would be beneficial for farmers if the government buys paddy directly from producers in the next boro harvesting season.”
