Samuel Benin

Samuel Benin is the Acting Director for Africa in the Development Strategies and Governance Unit. He conducts research on national strategies and public investment for accelerating food systems transformation in Africa and provides analytical support to the African Union’s CAADP Biennial Review.

Green Revolution 2.0 (Medium)

Medium published an article on feeding humanity as the climate changes will require crops that are more productive, hardy, and diverse than ever. Senior Research Fellow Keith Wiebe discussed nurturing “orphan crops.” He stated,  “The big growth we saw over the past half-century, including the Green Revolution, was pretty much focused on Asia and Latin America, and the big crops, ….they’ve had their turn — what about sorghum and millet and cowpeas … that tend to be more important for poorer farmers in poorer regions?”
