Pandemic threatens food supply (Tagesspiegel)

August 02, 2020

Tagesspiegel (Germany) reported on the Science Magazine: COVID-19 risks to global food security by researchers David Laborde, Will Martin, Johan Swinnen, and Rob Vos. Tagesspiegel wrote For countries with high per capita incomes, such as Europe and North America, it will not become an existential question whether pandemic mitigation measures will jeopardize the food supply of food to the population. But where low and lowest per capita incomes are the norm, lockdown and other infection control rules affect “all four pillars of security of supply, according to the Science article. The authors also write, Whether it’s availability or access to food, its nutritional value or continuity of supply, Covid-19 is “directly and seriously” influencing global “food security.”
